Abstract
1,062,616. Making return bends; angular bending. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. April 30, 1964 [April 30, 1963], No. 17999/64. Headings B3A and B3E. [Also in Division F4] In a method of forming a return bend from a tube having diametrically opposed ribs 3 and 4, a section of the rib 4 or portions 10 thereof (shown as V-shaped portions) are removed and transverse slits 12 are formed in the rib 3, the tube then being bent to form the bend with the slit rib on the outside of the bend. The tube may be first bent to produce a bend of radius greater than that required to connect two parallel tube legs, and then the radius of the bend reduced by urging the two parallel legs together.
