Abstract
1,061,780. Stackable receptacles. MIDWEST METALLIC PRODUCTS Inc. Dec. 21, 1964 [Jan. 13, 1964], No. 51946/64. Heading B8P. A tray that can be both stacked and nested comprises a rectangular bottom of parallel wires 13 welded to cross wires 12 the ends of which are bent into a plane perpendicular to the bottom to form side walls 12c. The ends of the wires 13 are upturned and welded to the end portions 11a of a side frame member 11 which is also welded to the cross wires 12. The side wall portions 12c of the cross wires are inclined to the vertical (Fig. 3, not shown) to permit nesting and are welded to top members 14 each comprising a wire folded into a closed loop with its ends welded together. Each end of the top member 14 has welded thereto a tiering seat member 15 comprising a channel shaped metal bracket having a recessed portion 15d, and an ear 15g overlying a tiering seat 15e (Fig. 2, not shown). When stacked (Figs. 4, 6, not shown) a downwardly bent portion 12d of the cross wires 12 rests on the tiering seat 15e of an underneath tray. When nested the lower part of the loop of the top member 14 on the upper tray rests upon the upper part of the top member 14 on the lower receptacle, maintaining a clearance between the bottoms of the nested trays. The open wires 13 forming part of the bottom may be replaced by a closed pan.
