Abstract

1,059,645. Liquid cargoes discharging. MANNESMANN A.G. June 9, 1964 [June 15, 1963], No. 23753/64. Heading B8E. Apparatus for delivering pumpable material such as in the discharge of tankers, comprises a tubular column 1, a jib 5, and trunk 6 connected by articulated joints 3, 4, 7, 8, which allows connection between a fixed installation 2 and a movable filing cap 16. The apparatus is counterbalanced by a weight 14 supported by a beam 13 connected by a pivoted link 10 to the joint 4 and by a lever 15 pivoted to it but fixed to the trunk 6. The arrangement is such that as the position of the centre of gravity of the trunk 6 alters as it is moved the position of the weight 14 alters so that balance is maintained in all positions. In a modification, all movements of the column 1, jib 5 and trunk 6 about the joints are power-assisted by hydraulic jacks.
