Abstract

1,057,570. Piston rings. HEPWORTH & GRANDAGE Ltd. Dec. 10, 1965 [Dec..31, 1964], No. 53088/64. Heading F2T. The major area of the cylinder-engaging surface 2 of a piston ring 1 is formed by two circumferential bands 3 of hard wearing material which are axially separated by a land 4 composed of the basic material of the ring. The surface 2 may be cylindrical or bevelled at its edges or rounded as in Fig. 1. The bands 3 may be of chromium or molybdenum.
