Abstract
1,055,267. Drop-delivering apparatus. ROSIN ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct.10, 1963 [Oct. 19, 1962], No. 39715/62. Heading B8N. A drop delivering apparatus comprises a nozzle 3 having an open-ended passageway 4 adapted to receive liquid from a supply container 1 via ports 8, and plunger means 10 for applying pulsations to the liquid flowing through the passageway, each pulsation decelerating the liquid in the passageway in order to cause a drop to be released from the open end. As shown in Fig. 7 the drop delivering apparatus is applied to a machine for forming pastilles, the plunger 10 being reciprocated by means of rods 23, 26 and an eccentric 27 driven, through a gearbox 29, by a motor 30. The container may be provided with a heating jacket 31 and the drops fall on to a steel conveyer band which is cooled by water sprays 33. The ports may be formed in the wall of the nozzle as shown in Fig. 1 and the plunger reciprocated internally thereof or the plunger may be hollow and reciprocate externally, Fig. 2 (not shown); in the latter construction additional ports may be formed in the plunger or the ports may be only in the plunger. In an alternative arrangement the end of the plunger may be formed with a disc adapted to co-operate with the inner open end of the passageway or formed with a conical-shaped member adapted to enter the open end. The nozzle may be arranged horizontally instead of vertically as shown.
