In a power - assisted steering system for motor vehicles comprising a pneumatic or hydraulic servocylinder which is connected between the steering linkage and the vehicle frame and is controlled by a valve 15 actuated by a ball 50 on a pin 51 carried by a steering box drop arm 8, the ball pin 51 is formed with a boss 60 which engages with a longitudinal groove 61 in the ball housing 12 so that the ball pin 51 is pivotable about its own longitudinal axis and about an axis transverse of the servocylinder 6 but rotation of the servocylinder 6 about its own longitudinal axis relative to the ball pin 51 is prevented. A bellows sleeve 67 sealing the ball housing 12 at the entry of the ball pin 5] includes a beading 68 surrounding the pin and a beading 66 retained in a recess 65 within the housing by an endless coil spring 70.
