Abstract
1,052,662. Make and break switches, mechanical. CONTROLS COMPANY OF AMERICA. Jan. 9, 1964 [Jan. 18, 1963], No. 983/64. Heading H2B. A switch including a reciprocal plunger 6 resiliently supporting conductor bridges 7, 9, is characterized by a bridge such as 9a or 9b carrying three interconnected contacts 10a 1 , 10a 2 , 10b, and 10c 1 , 10c 2 , 10d, respectively and movable towards co-operating fixed contacts 3e 1 , 5a, 3e 2 , and 3f 1 , 5b, 3f 2 , so that two contact pairs make simultaneously and the third pair makes only after pivotal movement of the respective bridge. Plunger 6 is a strip having a hole 18 engaged by end 16b of a pivoted lever 16 (Fig. 1, not shown) whose other arm has an end 16a acting as cam follower to an actuating cam 15. Rotating cam 15 is stepped to move plunger 6 in either reciprocal direction from a neutral position, the switch acting as a reversing switch controlling a washing machine. The bridges 7, 9 have springs 11, 12 resiliently biasing and supporting them as shown (see also Fig. 4, not shown), and the bridges 9a, 9b are T-shaped (Fig. 2, not shown).
