Abstract

1,051,688. Siloxane foam control agents. DOW CORNING CORPORATION. March 9, 1964 [May 6, 1963], No. 7524/66. Divided out of 1,051,687. Heading C3T. A foam control agent having a viscosity at 25‹ C. of 50 to 500,000 cs., and consisting essentially of a liquid diorganopolysiloxane in which the organic radicals are methyl, ethyl and propyl radicals, and containing 1 to 10% by wt. of an organosilyl-modified silica having a surface area of at least 50 m<SP>2</SP>/g., can be made by heating a mixture of the silica and the siloxane at a temp. of at least 100‹ C. while subjecting the mixture to a shearing action. If desired, compatible conventional organic foam control agents, eg. tributylphosphate. may be added. Examples are given.
