Abstract

1,050,875. Suction lifting heads. CASCADE CORPORATION. Aug. 6, 1965 [Sept. 14, 1964], No. 33750/65. Heading B8H. [Also in Division F2] Each one of a group of suction lifting heads 14 has a valve 12 which has resilient walls with slits 35 which are opened to connect the interior of the head with a vacuum source when it is distorted by a load. The valve has a recess 31 which is engaged in a hole in a backing-plate 16. A spring 41 holds the slits closed by forcing the dome 40 of the valve outwards. Suction is applied through conduits 26 and adapters 25. Each head is resiliently mounted on a supporting plate 11 by bolts 18 and springs 19. Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates the disposition of the slits 35.
