Abstract

1,049,473. Glazing. BOULTON & PAUL Ltd. March 20, 1964 [March 21, 1963], No. 11984/64. Heading E1R. A metal window frame glazing assembly comprises short profiled pieces 11 each located in a groove 9 or hole in a metal frame 1 and means such as screws 15 or wedges 34, Fig. 8 (not shown) on the piece for pressing a pane holding strip or frame 5 on to the pane 3 and at the same time holding the piece firmly in the groove or hole. Fig. 2 shows a double glazed unit, but for a single glazed unit (Fig. 3, not shown) the difference in widths of the double and single glazing unit may be taken up by a spacer block suitably shaped and inserted between the strip 5 and the screw 15. The groove 9 has a recess 10 remote from the pane and into which the hook-shaped crank 12 of the piece engages. The strip 5 has a groove 24 for accommodating the end of the screw 15. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the crank 12<SP>1</SP> passes through a hole and contacts the underside or outerside of the frame 1 and fulcrums about the edge of the hole when the screw 28 bearing on the upper side of the frame is operated to press the strip 5 against the pane. In Fig. 8 (not shown) the pressure on the strip 5<SP>11</SP> is produced by a double wedge 34 located in the groove of the piece 32 which also receives the leg of a T-shaped strip 5<SP>11</SP>. The groove 9 may be of inverted T-shape and the piece having two oppositely directed cranks (Fig. 9, not shown). The glass holding strips may be of U-section and covers may be provided to cover the profiled pieces.
