A handle holder for detachably carrying an article upon a wall comprises a bracket 10 having a pair of spaced-apart legs 18, 20 projecting from a bridge piece 12 for fixing to the wall, a dog 24 pivotally mounted on the bracket and having an eccentric surface cooperating with one leg 18 of the bracket to engage a handle between eccentric surface and leg, and a spring 30 acting between a leg and the dog biasing the dog about its pivot against the handle. As shown, the dog is made of rubber and is formed with serrations 46.
