Abstract

1,045,859. Lighting fittings . recessed in ceilings. TRILUX-LENZE KOMM. GES. March 26, 1964 [April 16, 1963], No. 12775/64. Heading F4R. [Also in Division E2] For mounting lighting fittings in a recess in a ceiling, the fitting is provided with one or more fixing yokes, each having a retaining screw for tightening from below, each yoke being turnable into a position in which the fitting can be inserted between two ceiling supports and, after tightening, the retaining screws can be turned into a position determined by a stop, in which the housing is held in place. In one form, a plasterboard ceiling 12, Fig. 1, is carried by inverted T-section supports 11. The light fitting consists of a housing 13 having horizontally extending parts 14 at the base terminating in channels 15 for supporting a light permeable cover 18. Yokes 16 are pivoted-on screws 17 on the parts 14 so that they can be turned through 90 degrees to engage the supports 11. Where the supports do not extend beyond the edge of the ceiling, L-shaped or similar brackets may be screwed to the supports to engage the yokes. Where the ceiling is fitted with heating pipes, the yokes may be shaped to engage over these. Where the ceiling supports are asymmetrical, a yoke with the base vertical is used on one side to engage the top of the support and the support on the opposite side carries a bracket, the end of which is engaged by a yoke with the base horizontal. Where special shaped ceiling supports having flanges extending above .-and spaced from the ceiling are used, the yokes have their bases vertical and carry slotted tongues engaging the flanges.
