Abstract

1,043,454. Machining tube-ends. BROOKES (OLDBURY) Ltd. Aug. 5, 1965 [May 14, 1964], No. 20077/64. Heading B3T. A machine for bevelling the ends of tubes comprises a frusto-conical tool holder 16 having two tools 22, 23 mounted so that the inner and outer peripheries of the work are machined. The machine has an I-section bed 11 and two longitudinally-movable units 12. Each unit comprises a gripping device 13 and a machining head 14. The gripping devices are connected by a bar 15. Each tool 22, 23 is clamped by two screws. Two further tools are provided to machine the radial end plane surface of the tube. The tool is urged axially by a spring 32 in a spindle 28 rotated by a belt 30. The spindle housing is carried on a freely pivoting plate 29, the tool being centralized by the work. The tool is withdrawn by a pneumatic device 37.
