Abstract

A plastic bag, cylindrical in shape, is made from strong polypropylene which cannot be pierced by pine needles, and has two open ends with draw strings (4, 5). The bag measures, for example, 2m high by 1.2 m diameter. When the tree is put up the bag is placed round its base with one end tied round the trunk; the remainder of the bag is allowed to spread round the base and is decorative in form. Once the decorations are taken off the bag is drawn over the tree and tied at the top, allowing it to be disposed of without the needles dropping.
