Abstract

The self-centering clutch thrust bearing has a sliding sleeve (10) on the output shaft (11) of the gear box fixed to the bearing by an elastic annular clip (16). The clip has a number of tabs (19) which fit into castellations (21) in the sliding sleeve (10). The clip is a friction fit onto the outer bearing casing (14) and acts as a dust cover (15) to prevent foreign matter entering the ball race (4). Alternatively the elasticity of the clip is achieved by a metallic bellows or synthetic rubber joint.
