Abstract

Trim strips of plastics materials such PVC for decorating vehicle bodywork are made with a concave base lined with a metal tape coated with adhesive to stick to the vehicle surface. The metal tape acts as a barrier to plasticizer migration which might otherwise weaken the interface between the trim strip and its supporting adhesive. Pref. the metal strip is of stainless steel approx. 0.4 mm thick, opt. perforated to accept clip fasteners at intervals along the trim. The adhesive may be applied as a double sided adhesive tape. The plastic trim strip may be solid or hollow.
