Abstract

L'invention a pour but d'obtenir à bas prix, par réaction à chaud de silice, de chaux et d'eau, un produit d'isolation en silicate de calcium composé de longs cristaux fibreux enchevêtrés de xonotlite et présentant une masse volumique apparente de 0,10 à 0,20 g/cm** 3 sans incorporation de fibres d'amiante. A de la chaux provenant d'une trémie 14 et de l'eau chaude d'un réservoir 15 on mélange dans une cuve de réaction 17 des cendres volantes d'une trémie 12 provenant d'un four de production de silicium ou de ferrosilicium. Le gel obtenu est soumis dans un malaxeur 19 à de la vapeur d'eau saturée et la matière viscoélastique résultante est moulée dans un autoclave 20 sous vapeur saturée puis sous vapeur surchauffée qui sèche et durcit le produit moulé.
