Abstract

Method of application of a wear-resistant and sealing coating contg. several layers, partic. a priming layer and a sealing layer, is described. It is made from the same or different polyurethane resins. The priming and sealing layers are applied successively on a support, and also >=1 supplementary layer of a liq. mixt. compared of a prepolymer with free Oh gps., a hardener which reacts with OH, and possibly a filler. Each layer is applied when the preceding layer is hard. At least one of the supplementary layers is reinforced with corundum. The priming and sealing layers can be applied in a mould by a roller. A rigid polyethylene mould, installed parallel to the surface to be covered, can be used for the supplementary layers, the corundum being added after the resin. The coating can be used on working or parking areas, for works of art, terraces, water reservoirs, linings, and swimming baths, e.g. in place of an asphalt based coating. besides their excellent resistance to wear, and tightness, these coatings are light in weight, and have good resistance to shock, heat, weather and many forms of chemical attack. Application time is short, and they can be rapidly put into service.
