Abstract

A rough metal sheet, from which the can end is to be formed, is mounted on a transverse support so that the sheet can be rotated. This support is also movable, and as the support is rotated, the sheet and support are displaced and the sheet is deformed into a convex shape. The sheet and support are displaced along a curved trajectory obtained by varying the angle of inclination of the axis of rotation about a point which is eccentric with respect to the sheet. The sheet is shaped by rotating rollers dispersed about the periphery which exert a pressure and deform the sheet to the required shape as it rotates.
