Abstract

The electro-magnetic valve has a valve head (4) made of soft iron and is provided with an elastomeric sealing face (5). The valve head (4) is normally held on its seat by the conical spring (6). The solenoid (10) is mounted eccentrically to the valve head (4) so that its core (7) is dispersed by a distance (d). When the solenoid (10) is energised the valve seat (4) is attracted to the core (7) in such a manner that it rotates about a horizontal axis as well as moving in the vertical direction. Because of this motion the force required to open the valve is less than is the case with a concentrically mounted solenoid.
