Abstract
Compsn. for heat-conductive articles, resistant to corrosion and to temp.-changes, contains, by wt., (1)(a) 15-17% synthetic graphite filler having grain-size 0.0001-0.09 mm., (2) 15-25.5% kish graphite with grain-size 0.01-0.15 mm., (3) 15-25% binder, having grain-size 0.002-0.09 mm., consisting of a thermosetting polymer (I), which is liq. or dissolved in an organic solvent or emulsified in water, and of a therein-dispersed powder of a thermoplastic polymer (II), having a chemical compsn. near to that of (I). Pref. wt. ratio (I):(II) is 4:1-8:3. Articles are used in chemical industry, as heat-exchange blocks, rotary pump parts, shut-off device, fittings; in iron and steel industry, e.g., as chuck plates, melting crucibles, dies, presses; in electrical industry, as shaped anodes, electrolytic baths. Compsn. has increased plasticity, electrical- and heat- conductivity. The articles can be made without mechanical processing. Linear shrinkage of articles is 1.2-3.5%. Polymer migration and spots of uneven density are prevented.
