Abstract

In a power cylinder contg. a power piston carrying out a predetermined maximum stroke, for use e.g. in a device for gripping the threated studs in the opening and closing of the cover of a nuclear reactor, a discharge opening is provided at a certain distance from the base of the cylinder pref. corresponding to the permissible max. stroke and terminates in a chamber free from pressure i.e. a receiver under atmospheric pressure. The expulsion of the piston from the cylinder to too great an extent or even completely is prevented without the need for massive stop members.
