Abstract

Light-weight construction material is mfd. by incorporating into mortar expanded granules such as perlite, vermiculite which are first made water impermeable by suitable surface treatment. The construction material is then made by mixing cement and water with the treated granules in a mixer working continuously and instantaneous fashion (sic) so as to avoid soaking the granules in excess water. The articles produced may be reinforced. For making supporting beams, moulded tiles, wall panels for acoustic insulation.
