Abstract

Concrete block or beam is made by mixing 0-60 wt.% glass fragments, of particle size 50 mesh - 0.5 inch with Portland cement, water and gravel; and compressing into the desired shape. The use of scrap glass reduces pollution and the blocks obtd. have improved mechanical strength i.e. 84-98 kg/cm2 using the same amt. of cement as in prior art. The glass can give an improved aesthetic appearance to the block.
