Abstract

Counter-current treatment of a flow of solids with a flow of liquid, for heat or mass transfer, chemical reaction, etc. and particularly for cooling blanched vegetables etc. prior to freezing, in which the flow of solid products is divided into separate units of approx. equal volume, by treating these separate units step-by-step with separate units of equal vol. of the liquid flow, each successive unit of product being maintained in contact with each successive unit of liquid for the same length of time.
