Abstract

Oxygen-enriched oxidation gas and endothermic gas are blown separately through nozzles in the converter floor from a main pipeline system which ends below the converter near the blast box. The lower section of the converter is formed by two separate supply systems which are a continuation of the main system. One of these comprises the blast box which directly supplies the pipeline leading to one of the nozzles. The other consists of a detachable frame with fixed pipelines which are firmly connected to the tube of the other nozzle. The latter tube passes through the box between the box cover and the fixed pipelines. All supply lines have similar minimum lengths so that each gas is fed into the converter under identical conditions.
