Abstract

Additive esp for fuel oil, comprises a mixture of a metal alkyl-salicylate (I) and a metal sulphonate (II). Pref. wt. ratio of (I to II) is 1:10 to 1:1 esp. 1:1 to 1:6 and the alkyl is pref. 8-24C. Metal for (I) is esp. Cr and metal for (II) is esp. Ba. Additive may also contain metal alkylsulphosuccinate (III), wt. ratio of (I to II) is esp. between 1:10 and 10:1, more esp. 1:1 and 1:6. (III) is eg Na dioctyl-sulphosuccinate. Mixt. is pref. added to organic liquid in amt. 0.00005 to 2, esp. 0.0001 to 0.5% by wt. total comosition, liquid is eg a combustible fuel for motor or turbine.
