Abstract
New material composition which can be used as a collector for recovery of nonferrous metal-containing sulfide minerals and sulfidized metal-containing oxide minerals from ores in a froth flotation process. The new composition contains (a) a hydrocarbon that contains one or more monosulfide units in which the carbon atoms to which said sulfur atom(s) are bonded are aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carbon atoms and the total carbon content in the hydrocarbon part is such that the hydrocarbon has hydrophobic characteristics sufficient to cause the metal containing sulfide mineral and sulfidized metalcontaining oxide mineral particles to be driven to an air/bubble interface, and (b) an alkylthiocarbonate, a thionocarbamate, a thiophosphate, or mixtures of these.
