Abstract

In the froth flotation of e.g. mineral ores, 2 ethyl hexanol is used as the frother agent. As collector agents may be used xanthates, dithiophosphates, dithiocarbamates, salts of alkyl sulphates, and particularly in the case of oxidized minerals such as malachite and azurite, ammoniated fatty acids or tall-oil. The examples relate (a) to the flotation of copper ores containing chalcocite and malachite using isopropyl xanthate as collector, and (b) to the flotation of lead/zinc sulphide ore using sodium ethyl xanthate as collector and copper sulphate to activate the zinc minerals.
