Abstract
Procedimiento para la fabricación de cuerpos moldeados policristalinos con una densidad de por lo menos 97% de la densidad teórica del carburo de silicio, que constan de por lo menos 95,4% en peso de carburo de silicio alpha , aproximadamente 0,1 hasta 2,0% en peso de carbono adicional, aproximadamente 0,2 hasta 2,0% en peso de aluminio, hasta aproximadamente 0,5% en peso de nitrógeno, y hasta aproximadamente 0,1% en peso de oxígeno, estando presente el carburo de silicio alpha en forma de una estructura homogénea con tamaños de granos de como máximo 10 micram, con una resistencia a la rotura por flexión hasta a 1.600ºC de por lo menos 500 N/mm2 y con un modo de rotura transcristalino, por medio de sinterización sin presión, que se caracteriza porque se mezcla homogéneamente carburo de silicio en forma de polvo, presente esencialmente en la modificación alpha, con una distribución de tamaños de granos de 3 micram y más finos, con un aditivo que contiene aluminio en una cantidad correspondiente a 0,3 hasta 3% en peso de aluminio libre, referido al peso del carburo de silicio utilizado y con un aditivo que contiene carbono en forma de carbono amorfo o con un material coquizable a temperaturas de hasta aproximadamente 1.000ºC con formación de carbono amorfo, en una cantidad correspondiente a 0,2 hasta 3% en peso de carbono libre, referido al peso del carburo de silicio utilizado, se prensa en frío con conformación, y los cuerpos previamente moldeados, obtenidos de esta manera, con una densidad de por lo menos 50% de la densidad teórica del carburo de silicio, son sinterizados a continuación en presencia de una atmósfera inerte frente al carburo de silicio, o en vacío a una temperatura de 2.OOOº hasta 2.300ºC hasta la formación de los cuerpos moldeados policristalinos.
