Abstract

An apparatus for spreading manure in the form of solids, slurries or liquids on the ground includes a water- tight tank 1 mounted on a chassis 2 and coupled with an agricultural tractor. The tank is in the form of a parallelepiped and includes a semi-cylindrical base. A rotor with a horizontal axis, constituted by a shaft 5 fitted with flail chains, is moved relative to the tank by articulation of an arm about a fixed point 8 or by vertical movement of a guide block in sliding guides, said arm or guide block being situated at each transverse end of the tank and moving in arcuate or straight slots 18 in the tank wall, the slots being covered by shields 18a which seal the slot and are mounted so as to accompany the rotor as it moves. The rotor, after starting up with zero load, penetrates without jerking into the mass of the product to be spread which is ejected laterally by means of a deflector 19 of variable orientation.
