Abstract

The apparatus has a rotating drum (2) as a lathe-turned body. A second lathe-turned body co-operates with this drum (2), to form a gusset, and is preferably likewise designed as a rotating drum (2). At least one of the drums (2) or one of the lathe-turned bodies possesses a suction zone (4) located in the gusset region. A yarn core (9) runs through the gusset region in the longitudinal direction of the drums to a pair of draw-off rollers (5). This yarn core (9) consists of a fibre roving and is guided through a drawing unit (6, 7, 8) directly in front of the drums (2) or lathe-turned bodies. The drawing unit (6, 7, 8) prevents the fibre roving (9) from rotating about its axis. The fibres are introduced on the fly into the gusset between the two drums (2) or lathe-turned bodies and there they are rotated about the yarn core or fibre roving (9).
