Abstract

A yarn is liq. treated by being fed by feed rolls into a chamber contg. a treatment liq. and in a helical path a around guide rollers, before being fed out of the chamber through delivery rolls. Pref. between the guide rollers the yarn passes between. Squeezer rolls and the bottom portion of each loop of yarn passes through the liq. in a corrugated formation. A feeler contacts a loop of yarn and dependent on the tension controls lifting devices to move the yarn and increase the size of the loop, so as to reduce the feed rate of the yarn. The feeler also actuates a control device to reverse the direction of rotation of the guide rolls, and the squeezer rolls to slow down the yarn, independently. The device is cheap and simple, and allows a controlled passage of the yarn through the liq. bath.
