Abstract

Textured multifilament yarn of polyamide 5, polyamide 6.6, polyester in the range 22/1 to 167/36 dtex/filament is produced by extruding the individual filaments cooling the filaments and oiling them and finally feeding them to a pneumatic false twister which intermingles them together. The individual filaments have dia. of 10-80 mu and are advanced at speeds of 4000-10,000 metres/min. The residual stretch capacity of the filaments is 30-70%. Before being wound up into a package the yarn passes at least once around a pair of feed rolls rotating at a peripheral speed approx. equal to the feed speed of the yarn. Tension in the newly formed yarn is controlled so that it is not stretched and deformed as it is wound up into packages. The device operates at high speeds.
