Abstract

Un procedimiento químico para el tratamiento de roca de fosfato conteniendo arcilla que incluye las etapas de: a) extraer de la mina la roca de fosfato; b) reducir la roca de fosfato a un tamaño predeterminado; c) adicionar agua a dicha roca de fosfato; y d) almacenar la mezcla que contiene la roca de fosfato y agua; la mejora comprende adicionar a dicha mezcla que contiene dicha roca de fosfato y agua una cantidad efectiva para controlar los problemas asociados con la intumescencia de arcillas residuales en dicha roca y agua de un tratamiento químico elegido de la clase que comprende un ácido hidroxílico alifático conteniendo 2-6 átomos de carbono, inclusive; una sal de dicho ácido hidroxílico alifático; y una mezcla de un sal de dicho ácido hidroxílico alifática y una substancia cáustica de modo que dicha mezcla no muestre, después del almacenamiento, una viscosidad tan elevada que no pueda ser bombeada y tenga que adicionarse de nuevo agua y de modo que dicha mezcla pueda bombearse aún después de 4 horas de almacenamiento con concentraciones e sólidos superiores al 65% en peso.
