Process for obtaining polymeric powder coating compositions, comprising a polymerized resin having isocyanate-reactive functionality and an organic polyisocyanate crosslinking agent having at least one blocked isocyanate group and at least one isocyanate group which has been reacted with an agent which, after curing of the coating composition, is an internal plasticizing agent for the resin, but which, prior to curing, is an external plasticizing agent for the resin, characterized in that the polyisocyanate is first reacted with the agent blocking agent and the product of this reaction is reacted with the plasticizing agent.
