Abstract

Procedure for manufacturing solid combustion pyrotechnic elements without detectable fumes, such as blocks that can be used in particular as a propergol block for self-propulsion, these elements being made from a pyrotechnic composition of the type that includes: nitrocellulose, an explosive oil with a potential greater than 1,200 cal/g and at least one plasticizing agent, a stabilizing agent and a combustion catalyst, characterized in that: - in a first phase, the constituent elements of a so-called base powder are suitably mixed to form a viscous mass, from which granules are subsequently obtained by extrusion, said constituent elements including at least, on the one hand, nitrocellulose and, on the other hand, a cyclic explosive chosen from the group consisting of cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine and cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine, the weight of this cyclic explosive being between 20% and 40% of the total weight of said base powder, - in a second phase, the granules of the so-called base powder, obtained during the first phase, are placed in a mold and after filling, sealing and vacuuming the mold, a molding solvent is introduced to fill the interstices between the granules of the so-called base powder, said molding solvent consisting of a stabilized and plasticized explosive oil, - in a third phase, the mold is subjected again substantially to atmospheric pressure and it is subjected to a curing program and then firing to cause gelatinization of the nitrocellulose of the base powder by the explosive oil of the molding solvent.
