Abstract
A process for the production of rough surface cast aluminum sheet, characterized in that a mass of molten aluminum is maintained in contact with the cooled surface of an upwardly inclined strip, or the periphery of a cooled drum, the inclination of the surface of the band or drum, with respect to the horizontal, of 20-60º in contact with the molten aluminum mass, the temperature of the aluminum supplied to the molten mass being in the range of 690 to 710º, the aluminum having a solidification margin not exceeding 20º and a total alloy content (including impurities) not exceeding 1/2%, the sheet being kept in contact with the cooled surface for a residence time of at least 5 seconds and being free of restriction the upper surface of the aluminum carried upwards from the aluminum mass melted by the belt or the drum, until the solidification is finished.
