Abstract

A procedure for the preparation of 1-aryloxy-3-amino-propanol derivatives expressed by the following general formula **(See formula)** wherein Ar represents a substituted or unsubstituted benzene or naphthalene ring, Ac denotes an organic acid residue, Y represents a hydrogen atom, a monovalent hydrocarbon radical having up to 12 carbon atoms, or an organic acid residue, or Y may be attached to the group Ac to form a diacyl group, Z is a hydrogen atom or a protecting group attached to the oxygen atom by an aliphatic ether bond, and R represents an alcoholic or aralcohyl group, or of addition salts non-toxic acid thereof, which comprises reacting a compound expressed by the following general formula **(See formula)** in which Z and R are as defined above, or their non-toxic acid addition salts, with a compound expressed by the following general formula **(See formula)** in which Ar, Ac and Y are as defined above, and, if desired, cleaving the protecting group by a method known per se from the compound obtained of general formula (III) in which Z is the protecting group mentioned above .
