Procedure for obtaining imidazolidinone derivatives of general formula I **(See formula)** wherein R is a lower alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R1 is hydrogen or the methyl group, R2 is hydrogen, halogen up to atomic number 35, trifluoromethyl, a lower alkyl or alkoxy group with 1 to 4 atoms of carbon or a di-lower alkyl-sulfamoyl group, the lower alkyl groups of which contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms in each case, and n represents 2 or 3, as well as their addition salts of inorganic or organic acids, characterized in that a compound of general formula II wherein R1 and R2 have the meaning indicated in formula I, or an alkali metal derivative of a compound thereof, is reacted with a reactive ester of a compound of general formula III **(See formula)** wherein R and n have the meanings indicated under formula I, and optionally the reaction product is converted with an inorganic or organic acid into an addition salt.
