A method of reducing polymer build-up on the inner surfaces of a reaction vessel during aqueous dispersion polymerization of essentially water-insoluble monoethylenically unsaturated liquid monomers, the process of which is characterized by substantially uniform contact of said surfaces, prior to or during the polymerization of the monomer, with at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal water soluble salt of (1) an aminocarboxylic acid represented by the formula: (R) nN (A-COOH) (3-n) where R is hydroxyalkyl, A is an alkylene group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms and n is an integer from O to 2; or (2) polyamino acids represented by the formula: **(See formula)** where Z is an alkylene group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, x is an integer from 0 to 4, Y'' is hydrogen or -CH2COOH and Y and Y'are hydrogen, -CH2COOH or hydroxyalkyl.
