Abstract
In a closed and pressurized domestic water system supplying space heating water and hot water for tapping off, the water is heated in a unit 1, i.e. a boiler or heat exchanger, connected to first and second conduits 12, 13 and to a cold water inlet 11, a plurality of feed and return pipes 14, 15 being connected in parallel between conduits 12 and 13, feed pipes 14 supplying radiators or tapping off devices. Pipes 14, 19 lead into one end of mixing tank 24, conduits 23 at this end supplying radiators 10 and conduits at the other end supplying taps 26. When hot water is tapped off cold water from pipe 22 is mixed and drawn off with the hot water when valve 8, controlled by thermostat 29, opens. The length of the tank prevents cold water reaching the end of the tank supplying the radiators. The water from radiators returns through conduit 21, collecting tank 25 and conduits 20, 15, 13 to the boiler 1. Valve 7 in conduit 20 is controlled by a room thermostat 9 and regulates the temperature of the radiators. The two-way valve 4 is operated by pressure sensitive member 30 to keep the pressure at the outlet of pump 2 constant, thus opening when valve 7 closes. Valve 3 is controlled by thermostat 5 and external thermostat 6 and by by-passing water through conduit 18 controls the temperature of water supplied from the boiler and keeps it above a minimum value. Air vent 27 and safety valve 28 are provided at the top of the boiler 1.
