Abstract
Procedimiento de preparación de matrices vítreas con propiedades de cristales líquidos a temperatura ambiente. El procedimiento de preparación de películas delgadas de vidrio de espesor variable conteniendo microgotas de cristales líquidos como K-15 y MBBA o de mezclas comerciales como E-7, Phase 5, ZLI-3775, ZLI-1275, y Colesteril linoleato por medio del proceso solgel de una disolución de alcohol, compuestos órgano-silanos u órgano-alúminas y agua a temperatura ambiente. Las microgotas varían de 0,1 a 200 micras de diámetro según la naturaleza de los reactivos y el procedimiento utilizado para su preparación. Estos materiales, en forma de películas dan una respuesta sensible ópticamente a un campo eléctrico externo con tiempos de respuesta de subida (on) y relajación (off) variables y que están estrechamente ligados al tipo de precursor utilizado y a la relación estequiométrica de los componentes de la disolución. Las propiedades ópticas de estos materiales son también sensibles a la temperatura.
