Abstract

The invention pertains to a cast-metal engine block having at least one system of ducts, preferably for supplying lubricant to bearing points, wherein each duct system is formed by a prefabricated pipe system (6, 7) which is cast in by the metallic material at least over part of its duct lengths. Thus, the duct system can be incorporated in the casting mold as an insert.
