Abstract

The earth electrodes 7 consist of integral lugs of a metal annular element 6 connected to the end of the metal spark plug body by means of welding, preferably performed using a laser beam. The earth electrodes are shaped such that their end surfaces directed towards the central electrode 4 of the spark plug are intersected by the plane, transverse to the axis of the spark plug, which is tangential to the end of the insulating element 13 from which the central electrode projects. A conical chamfer 9 is provided in the element 3 about the projecting end of the electrode 4.
