LA INVENCION ESTA DESTINADA A PREVENIR LOS DAÑOS CAUSADOS POR EL PETROLEO ESCAPADO AL AGUA LIBRE. LA INVENCION SE BASA EN EL CAMBIO DE LA VISCOSIDAD DEL PETROLEO EN RELACION CON LA TEMPERATURA. LA FIGURA 1 MUESTRA EL PRINCIPIO DE FUNCIONAMIENTO. UN BARCO DE TIPO CATAMARAN SE HA PROVISTO DE DOS CILINDROS (2), QUE MEDIANTE UN EQUIPO DE ENFRIAMIENTO (5) PUEDE MANTENERSE EN UNA TEMPERATURA MAS BAJA QUE LA DEL AGUA. ENTONCES, EL PETROLEO (7) QUE ESTA FLOTANDO EN EL AGUA TOCA EL CILINDRO (2) Y SE SOLIDIFICA PEGANDOSE EN LA SUPERFICIE DEL CILINDRO. CUANDO EL CILINDRO DA VUELTAS, EL PETROLEO SE TRANSPORTA EN LA SUPERFICIE DEL CILINDRO HASTA QUE SE LE RECOGE EN EL CANALON COLECTOR (8), DE DONDE ES CONDUCIDO AL TANQUE COLECTOR DEL BUQUE. EL DIMENSIONADO DE LOS BUQUES Y CILINDROS ASI COMO DEL EQUIPO DE ENFRIAMIENTO PUEDE ELEGIRSE LIBREMENTE SEGUN CIRCUNSTANCIAS.
