Claims (8)

  1. Fastening tool with an internal combustion engine (2) for driving fastening elements into a support material, comprising a cylinder (3), in which a propulsion piston (5) is slideably mounted, a combustion chamber (1, 11) arranged to be supplied with fuel, a rear cylinder head (12) bearing a means (36) for igniting the fuel in the chamber (1) after its closure against the cylinder head (12) and after the closure of the tool, a translationally moveable plug guide (9) intended to receive a fastening element and the rod (7) of the piston (5), and a cage (21) coupled in translation, at the rear, to the chamber (11) and, at the front, to the plug guide (9), return means being provided in order, upon opening of the tool, to open the chamber (11) while driving the plug guide (9) forwards, opening and closing stop means also being provided for the chamber (11), the tool additionally comprising, on each side of the tool, a single opening and closing lateral chamber stop pad (18, 55) secured to the chamber (11) and mounted in a translationally moveable manner with respect to the cylinder (3), characterized in that it comprises
    - a single central spring (32) for opening the chamber (11), and in that,
    - on each side of the tool, the pad is arranged to slide on a path (17; 54) formed on the corresponding side of the cylinder (3).
  2. Fastening tool according to Claim 1, in which the opening spring (32) is mounted in rear abutment against the cylinder (3, 33) and in front abutment against an intermediate yoke (22) to which the cage (21) is fixed.
  3. Fastening tool according to either of Claims 1 and 2, in which a guide (31) for the opening spring (32) is provided.
  4. Fastening tool according to Claim 3, in which the guide (31) of the spring (32) is a shaft mounted in front (39) and rear (38) bridges of the cage yoke (22).
  5. Tool according to Claim 4, in which the front portion of the shaft (31) comprises a thrust disc (30) arranged to cooperate with a bearing leg (29) of the plug guide (9).
  6. Fastening tool according to Claim 1, in which the sliding path is a groove formed at the surface of the cylinder and the pad (18) is engaged in the groove (17).
  7. Fastening tool according to Claim 1, in which the sliding path is a bar (54) attached to the cylinder and in which a groove (53) for receiving the bar (54) is formed in the pad (55).
  8. Fastening tool according to one of the preceding claims, in which the stop pad (18, 55) is made of damping material.
