- the lip 66 butts up against the end face 68 of the barrel and prevents the insert from passing fully through the barrel 58 when it is inserted.
- the lip 66 has a number of protrusions 70 protruding therefrom towards the barrel 58 which, when assembled, align with castellations 72 in the end of the barrel. These protrusions 70 and castellations 72 prevent the rotation of the insert 60 when they mate with one another to maintain the stepped hole 62, and therefore the pin 64 in its desired position.
- the inset 60 is provided with an adjustment feature, in this case a hexagonal hole 74 in the end opposite the bore 62.
- the hexagonal hole 74 accepts an allen key, or other hexagonal tool, which can be used to turn the insert 60.
- the protrusions 70 and the castellations 72 have either angled or rounded sides such that when a turning force is applied via a tool in the hexagonal hole 74, the induced forces on the protrusion 70 and castellation 72 respectively cause the insert 60 to move longitudinally in the barrel 58, freeing the protrusions 70 from the constraints of the castellations 72.
- the insert may then be rotated to index it into the desired position, without the need to disassemble any parts of the hinge. This enables a hinge having these hinge plate assemblies 50 to easily be adjusted in situ.
- the stepped hole 62 comprises a narrower portion for receiving the shaft 76 of the pin 64, and a wider section adjacent the mouth of the stepped hole 62 for receiving an enlarged portion of the pin 78.
- the enlarged portion gives additional bearing support to the pin 64 where in enters and exits the stepped hole 62.
- a threaded through hole 80 interconnects the bottom of the stepped hole 62 with the hexagonal hole 74 and contains a grub screw (omitted for clarity). As the grub screw is wound into the threaded hole 80 it projects to a greater or lesser extend into the stepped hole 62.
- the grub screw will lift the pin in the stepped hole 62, thereby, in use, giving vertical adjustment of the position of the door relative the frame.
- a tool may be inserted through the hexagonal hole 80 to adjust the grub screw, thereby adjusting the door height on the hinge, whilst in situ.
- a hinge 82 is shown comprising one hinge plate 20 as described with reference to Figures 1 and 2 and a second hinge plate assembly 50 as described in relation to Figures 3 and 4 .
- the combination of the two hinge plates of the invention result in a hinge that enables very accurate adjustment of a door relative a frame in all three axis.

Claims (14)
- Lame de charnière à ajustement (20), comprenant : une plaque (22) pour fixer ladite lame de charnière sur une surface, et un corps (26) pour recevoir en service une broche d'articulation dans celui-ci, la lame de charnière (20) comprenant en outre un insert d'ajustement (28) comportant un trou de broche d'articulation (38) s'étendant au moins en partie dans celui-ci pour recevoir en service en partie une broche d'articulation, l'insert (28) pouvant être tourné par rapport au corps de la lame de charnière (26), de sorte à déplacer le trou de la broche d'articulation (38) qui y est contenu par rapport à l'axe central du corps, l'insert (28) comprenant en outre un moyen d'ajustement (42, 44) pour faire tourner l'insert (28) et l'insert (28) étant allongé et comportant un bord de pivotement (32) s'étendant essentiellement parallèlement au trou de la broche d'articulation et décalé par rapport à celui-ci, l'insert (28) pouvant tourner autour du bord de pivotement (32), caractérisée en ce que :l'insert (28) a une section transversale essentiellement en forme de poire.
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 1, dans laquelle le moyen d'ajustement comprend : un trou fileté (42) passant à travers l'insert de manière essentiellement parallèle au trou de la broche d'articulation (38) ; et une vis (44) dans ledit trou fileté (42) et s'étendant à travers l'intérieur du corps (26), de sorte que la rotation de la vis (44) entraîne l'avance de l'insert le long de sa longueur, la faisant ainsi pivoter sur son bord de pivotement, le trou fileté (42) passant à travers l'insert (28) dans une région solide de celui-ci, près de l'extrémité interne du trou de la broche d'articulation (38).
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 2, dans laquelle le bord de pivotement (32) comprend une surface arrondie.
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon les revendications 2 ou 3, dans laquelle l'intérieur du corps (26) comprend une rainure à pivot (34) dans laquelle est logé le bord de pivotement (32) de l'insert.
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 4, dans laquelle le corps (26) comprend en outre une surface courbée (36), essentiellement opposée à la rainure à pivot (34), la courbure de ladite surface (36) étant telle que lors de la rotation de l'insert (28) autour du bord de pivotement (32), le bord opposé au bord de pivotement (32) suit la courbure de la surface (36).
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 5, dans laquelle l'insert (28) est en contact coulissant avec la lame de charnière (20) sur sa surface courbée (36), et en contact pivotant avec la rainure à pivot (34).
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 1, dans laquelle le corps (26) comprend une ouverture d'outil (46) dans celui-ci, ladite ouverture d'outil (46) étant suffisamment grande pour permettre le passage d'un outil en vue de faire tourner la vis (44), et suffisamment petite pour retenir la vis (44) dans le corps (26).
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 7, dans laquelle ladite ouverture (46) comprend une fente.
- Lame de charnière à ajustement, comprenant deux lames de charnière (20), chaque lame de charnière (20) étant conforme à l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 8, et une broche d'articulation (40) s'étendant dans les deux lames de charnière (20), autour de laquelle une lame de charnière (20) peut pivoter par rapport à l'autre.
- Lame de charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 9, dans laquelle les inserts (28) des deux lames de charnière (20) sont orientés à 90° l'une par rapport à l'autre.
- Charnière à ajustement (82), comprenant deux lames de charnière, la première lame de charnière (20) étant conforme à l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 9, et la deuxième lame de charnière (50) comprenant : une plaque (54) pour fixer ladite lame de charnière (50) sur une surface, et un corps (58) pour recevoir en service une broche d'articulation (64) dans celui-ci, la lame de charnière comprenant en outre un insert d'ajustement allongé essentiellement cylindrique (60) comportant un trou de la broche d'articulation (62) s'étendant au moins en partie dans celui-ci, pour recevoir partiellement en service une broche d'articulation (60), l'insert (60) pouvant tourner par rapport au corps de la lame de charnière (58) de sorte à déplacer le trou de la broche d'articulation qui y est contenu par rapport à l'axe central du corps (58), l'insert (60) comprenant en outre un moyen d'ajustement pour faire tourner l'insert, et dans laquelle l'insert est allongé ; et dans laquelle le trou de la broche d'articulation (62) est décalé par rapport à l'axe central de l'insert (60), de sorte que la rotation de l'insert (60) entraîne un déplacement de la position du trou de la broche d'articulation (62) par rapport audit axe central ; l'insert (60) et le corps (58) comprenant des structures d'accouplement (72), comprenant des créneaux sur la face d'extrémité du corps (58) et des structures correspondantes (70) sur l'insert (60), alignées avec les créneaux lorsque l'insert (60) est complètement inséré, et dans laquelle un trou fileté (80) s'étend entre une ouverture d'outil (74) et le trou de la broche d'articulation (62), l'insert comprenant en outre une vis s'étendant du trou fileté (80) dans le trou de la broche d'articulation (62), de sorte que la rotation de la vis (80) entraine son débordement d'une distance plus ou moins grande dans le trou de la broche d'articulation (62).
- Charnière à ajustement selon la revendication 11, dans laquelle les créneaux et les structures d'accouplement correspondantes (70, 72) sur les inserts comprennent des côtés inclinés ou courbés, de sorte que la rotation de l'insert (60) exerce une force longitudinale sur le corps (58), entrainant la remontée des bords des structures d'accouplement (70, 72) sur les côtés inclinés ou courbés des créneaux, entraînant ainsi le dégagement par rotation de l'insert (60) du corps (58).
- Charnière à ajustement selon les revendications 11 ou 12, dans laquelle l'insert (60) s'étend à travers le corps (58), l'extrémité passant à travers le corps (58) comportant ladite ouverture d'outil (74) pour recevoir un outil afin de faire tourner l'insert (60).
- Porte, comportant au moins une charnière selon l'une quelconque des revendications 9 à 13.
