- the pressing of the compacts 10 takes place in such a way that they do not crumble during handling, but that they disintegrate almost immediately when introduced into the liquid and release the detergent composition. This is caused by the granulate particles 5, which immediately regain their former shape in contact with the wash water, i.e. undo the compaction and thereby increase in volume. If there is a 20 percent increase in volume and the individual particle is, for example, 2 mm in size, an expansion of 0.4 mm occurs when it comes into contact with the water, which is sufficient to bond the composite of the Blowing the compacts 10 locally and releasing the detergent particles.
- the granulate particles 5 themselves disintegrate in contact with the washing water, so that finally only the individual particles 6 and 7 of the cellulose-containing material are present, which are chemically essentially inert and also do not otherwise interfere with the washing process.

Abstract
Description
In Flüssigkeit zerfallender Preßling Liquid disintegrating compact
The invention relates to a compact of the type corresponding to the preamble of claim 1.
Diese Form der Konfektionierung erfordert eine vom Anwender vorzunehmende Portionierung, d.h. es muß eine bestimmteThe presentation in the form of compacts of this type is already known for detergents. To facilitate handling and metering, these are offered in the form of so-called "tabs" (of "tablets"), which have the size and shape of chocolates and contain a sufficient amount of detergent for a wash cycle in the dishwasher. Although the detergent pellets appear like small stones when pressed, they dissolve quickly and completely in flowing warm water, progressively from the outside inwards, without actually disintegrating, by dissolving the ingredients in the water. This property of the detergent pellets can be attributed to the composition of detergents which do not contain any very different constituents and in particular no insoluble constituents. The problem of an easy and safe to use dosage arises not only with detergents, but also with other substances, not only in the household, but also in the commercial sector. Examples are, for example, dye compositions for dyeing textiles, other chemicals from which solutions of certain concentrations have to be prepared and in particular detergents for textile laundry, preferably in the household and commercial sectors, for example clothing, bed and table linen, towels and the like. So far, detergents for these purposes have only been on the market in flowable or free-flowing form, that is to say as a liquid and predominantly as powder or granules. This form of packaging requires a portioning to be carried out by the user, ie it must be specific
Auch sind Verschmutzungen durch bei derAmount of liquid or a certain amount of powder or granules should be put in the washing machine. Significant errors are possible here if the user uses too much or too little detergent, either accidentally or deliberately. Soiling is also due to the
Dosierung des Waschmittels verschüttete Anteile häufig.Dosage of detergent often spills.
The technique of presentation in pellets, each containing a larger amount of the ingredients, for example sufficient for a wash cycle, would also be of great importance for detergents, since the dosage could then be limited to counting and no weighing or volume measurement processes would be necessary. However, the detergents differ from the detergents in that they have to be distributed much faster in the washing liquid and their ingredients should not be gradually released. The detergents also contain components that do not dissolve in the water. The differences in the structure of the ingredients have meant that portions of detergents comparable to the detergent tablets have not been possible up to now. Similar problems also exist with a whole range of other chemical ingredients that have to be dosed into a liquid.
The liquid is water in most cases, but the invention is not so limited. Rather, it can also be used with other liquids, for example alcohol or the like.
The invention has for its object to design a generic compact so that it quickly disintegrates after introduction into the liquid and releases the ingredients so that they can be distributed in the liquid.
This object is achieved by the invention reproduced in claim 1.
The compact is designed so that a compact or a number of compacts contains the amount of ingredients required for a batch. The portioning is carried out by adding one or more of these compacts, that is to say simply by counting, but no longer by metering in a certain amount of a liquid or free-flowing agent. The compact must be such that it survives handling during transport, storage and metering without chipping and without substantial abrasion, but on the other hand dissolves in water with sufficient speed. For this purpose, the disintegrant is provided in the form of the small-part cellulose-containing material, which, like a medical tablet, ensures that, on contact with the liquid, in particular the water, an increase in volume of the small-part particles within the mixture of the ingredients and the disintegrant in the Compact cracks occur, through which the water quickly penetrates into the interior of the compact and causes its disintegration.
The production of compacts from detergent is not easy. So far, it has not been possible to compress a washing powder into a somewhat durable compact which nevertheless dissolves sufficiently quickly. A solid compact can be produced at correspondingly high pressing pressures, but it does not disintegrate in water in the periods in question in order to release the ingredients.
From this point of view, the disintegrant contained in the compact in the form of the cellulose-containing material is of particular importance. In the case of the detergents, it was possible to produce usable compacts which would disintegrate in the water in the periods in question.
A very important development of the invention is that the small-scale cellulose-containing material is compacted before being added to the ingredients, for example the powder detergent.
The term "compacting" is intended to mean the exertion of pressure on the cellulose-containing material which compresses the volume of the cellulose-containing material without the fibers being destroyed. The particles are said to have been deformed during the compaction, in contrast to the aggregation, in which there is only an attachment of the particles without a substantial change in their shape. The compacting in this sense is said to increase before the disintegrant thus produced is admixed the ingredients. Then when the compact comes into contact with water or other liquid, the cellulose-containing material jumps from its compacted state back to a state with an open, relaxed volume. Whether this process is based on capillary or other forces can be left open. In any case, the increase in volume is much greater than that which results from pure swelling of the cellulose-containing material.
It is also important to provide the cellulose-containing material as granules (claim 4).
Es werden also aus dem feinstteiligen, zum Beispiel gemah- lenen, Ausgangsmaterial bei oder nach der KompaktierungThis means that the finely divided, for example milled, raw material is used during or after compacting
Granulate particles produced that form larger aggregates from a variety of starting particles. These larger aggregates, ie the granulate particles, are added to the ingredients, and the mixture is pressed into the compacts.
In die Granulatpartikel addieren sich die Einzelbeträge zu einer makroskopischen lokalenThe purpose of these measures is that the individual finest starting particle of the cellulose-containing material in contact with the liquid has the same relative volume increase as a larger aggregate, but that the absolute volume increase of a very fine starting particle is too small to be in the material of the Bring compact local expansion sufficient for crack formation. In the granulate particles, the individual amounts add up to a macroscopic local one
Dehnung mit ausreichender Sprengwirkung.Elongation with sufficient explosive effect.
The "cellulose-containing materials" to be used as disintegrants according to the invention are said to be those in which the cellulose is at least predominantly chemically unchanged. It is known (see "Römpp-Chemie-Lexikon", 9th edition (1995), page 4990, keyword "detergent") to add so-called graying inhibitors to detergents, ie dirt carriers which prevent the detached from the fiber of the laundry from the dirt Bring the liquor back onto the fiber and form a gray coating on it. Cellulose derivatives are used for these purposes, in particular carboxymethyl cellulose. However, this is a chemically modified cellulose that cannot function as a disintegrant.
In order to achieve the required rapid dissolution in detergents, if they have been pressed to a compact of sufficient strength, not only a disintegrant of particular effectiveness is required, but also one which is chemically active during the washing process and also after washing on the Makes laundry as little noticeable as possible. Both are guaranteed by the use of the cellulose-containing material, especially in compact form as an explosive. The cellulose-containing material is practically inert in washing solutions and practically does not appear on the laundry.
Eine Teilchengröße des Ausgangsmaterials, welches nach demA particle size of the starting material, which after the
Feinstteilige cellulosehaltige Ausgangsmaterialien dieser Kornfeinheit lassen sich mit noch trag- barem Zerkleinerungsaufwand herstellen und treten auf demCompacting in larger granulate particles, from 40 to 60 μm has proven to be expedient for detergents (claim 5). Finely divided cellulose-containing raw materials of this grain size can be produced with a still reasonable size reduction and appear on the
Waschgut praktisch nicht in Erscheinung.Laundry does not appear practically.
An important dimension is the density of the compacted cellulosic material according to claim 6, because it is a measure of the suitable compression of the material, in which the right compromise between for Manageability sufficient strength of the compact and sufficient disintegration is present.
According to claim 7, the compacted particles of the cellulose-containing material, ie the granulate, can have a particle size of 0.2 to 6.0 mm, in particular 0.3 to 1.5 mm (claim 8), the most appropriate particle size also depending on the size of the Compacts and indirectly also depends on the nature of the ingredients of the compact, insofar as, for example, different detergents have different compositions with different pressing and explosive properties.
Gemäß Anspruch 9 kann der Gewichtsanteil des kompaktierten cellulosehaltigen Materials an dem fertigen Preßling 3 bisAccording to claim 9, the proportion by weight of the compacted cellulose-containing material in the finished compact 3 to
6 Prozent betragen.6 percent.
It can also be recommended that the compact additionally comprises a proportion of small-part, non-compacted cellulose-containing material (claim 10).
Although this portion does not act as an explosive, it can develop a kind of wicking action in the pressed mass and be useful for the faster penetration of the water into the interior of the compact.
The proportion by weight of the non-compacted cellulose-containing material in the finished compact can be 1 to 3 percent (claim 11).
Verdickungsmittel aufweisen (Anspruch 12).The compacted cellulose-containing material contained in the compact can have a coating with a swelling or thickening agent (claim 12).
Auflage (1995), Seite 4440, Stichwort "Tablettensprengmittel" ) .Such agents are known per se as tablet disintegrants in the pharmaceutical sector (see "Römpp-Che- mie lexicon "9th edition (1995), page 4440, keyword" tablet disintegrant ").
It may further be recommended that the cellulose-containing material contained in the compact has a coating with a surfactant (claim 13), which can make up a weight fraction of 0.5 to 5.0 percent of the finished compact (claim 14) and in addition to that in powder detergent already contained surfactant in the compact. The surfactant is said to promote the distribution of the liquid along the surface of the particles of the cellulosic material.
The dispersing properties of the cellulosic material can be increased if it is at least partially fibrillated, i.e. is broken down into bundles of a few parallel cellulose fibers each (claim 15).
To achieve sufficient dispersibility, i.e. In the event of an immediate disintegration of the compact after it has been introduced into the liquid, it is advisable to press it dry or earth-moist from a mixture of the pulverulent or granular ingredients with the small-scale cellulose-containing material.
The compacts should hold together only by pressing, but not via liquid, subsequently hardening components that would delay the disintegration of the compact in the liquid or water.
Auflage (1995), Seite 3207, Stichwort "Papier").In the development work, two types of cellulose-containing material have distinguished themselves, namely TMP (= Thermo Mechanical Pulp) (claim 17) and CTMP (= Chemo Thermo Mechanical Pulp) (claim 18). These are two types of so-called wood pulp. In the TMP process, wood chips are shredded to TMP under pressure at approx. 130 ° C in pressure refiners. The use of chemicals in wood chip pre-damping results in CTMP (see "Römpp-Chemie-Lexikon" 9th edition (1995), page 3207, keyword "paper").
With the wood pulp TMP and CTMP a certain leaching of the material has taken place, but the lignins, resins and other wood accompanying substances have not been completely removed, in particular not as completely as in the cellulose production. So these wood pulps are cellulose-containing materials that have retained some of their wood character.
The aforementioned two materials have proven to be particularly effective as disintegrants for the compacts in question, in particular in a compacted state. Neither pure wood products such as wood flour or wood fibers nor pure cellulose are comparable in their blasting behavior. The "medium-treated" products TMP and CTMP have a clear maximum effect.
The dimensions of the compact under consideration are characterized by a largest dimension of approximately 1 to 10 cm, preferably 2 to 4 cm.
The invention also extends to a detergent in the form according to claim 20.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown schematically.
Fig. 1 zeigt eine mögliche Art der Kompaktierung von cellulosehaltigem Material; Fig. 2 zeigt eine kompaktierte Granulatpartikel;Fig. 1 shows a possible way of compacting cellulosic material; 2 shows a compacted granulate particle;
Fig. 3 zeigt einen Waschmittelpreßling.Fig. 3 shows a detergent compact.
According to FIG. 1, a bed 1 of cellulose-containing material, in the exemplary embodiment TMP, is fed to a pair of press rolls 2, into which a compacting takes place while compressing the volume of the individual particles and connecting them to form a type of coherent, compressed web 3. 4 symbolizes the shredding of the web 3 into granules 5.
Ein einzelnes Granulatkorn 5 ist in Fig. 2 dargestellt. Es enthält eine größere Anzahl von feinstteiligen TMP Parti- kein 6, deren Partikelgröße etwa 50 μm beträgt, d.h. dasA single granule 5 is shown in FIG. 2. It contains a large number of finely divided TMP Parti- no 6, the particle size of which is about 50 μm, i.e. the
Gleichzeitig sind die einzelnen Partikel 6 in dem Preßspalt gegenüber ihrer Ursprungsgestalt zusammengedrückt worden, d.h. sie haben eine Kompaktierung erfahren.TMP material has a grain size distribution, the maximum of which is around 50 μm. The individual very finely divided TMP particles 6 hold together through the pressure experienced in the pair of press rolls 2. At the same time, the individual particles 6 in the press nip have been compressed relative to their original shape, i.e. they have been compacted.
The granulate particles 5 in turn have a grain size distribution with a maximum at about 2 mm, i.e. the size of the granulate particles 5 is about 2 orders of magnitude larger than the size of the very finely divided TMP particles.
According to FIG. 2, the granulate particles 5 may also contain non-compacted cellulose-containing particles 7, which are indicated by short, straight lines and which may have a coating with a surfactant in order to promote the penetration of the liquid, in particular the washing water. The detergent composition itself is in the form of a powder / granule mixture. The individual detergent particles are designated 8 in FIG. 3. The detergent composition is mixed with the granulate particles 5 made of TMP, which are shown in FIG. 3 as small circles, and then pressed into a compact 10, which according to FIG. 3 is designed as a small cuboid with edge lengths of 2 to 3 cm. However, all other shapes are also possible, for example small circular disks or the like.
The pressing of the compacts 10 takes place in such a way that they do not crumble during handling, but that they disintegrate almost immediately when introduced into the liquid and release the detergent composition. The granulate particles 5 themselves disintegrate in contact with the washing water, so that finally only the individual particles 6 and 7 of the cellulose-containing material are present, which are chemically essentially inert and also do not otherwise interfere with the washing process.
