Abstract
The invention pertains to heavy metal-free wood preservatives that contain polymeric quaternary ammonium borate and (4-ethoxyphenyl) (3-(fluoro-3-phenoxyphenyl)propyl-(dimethyl)silane.
Description
Vorbeugende HolzschutzmittelPreventive wood preservatives
The invention relates to preventive wood preservatives which are free of heavy metals and have a good fungicidal action.
It is known from EP-A 0 355 316 to use polymeric quaternary ammonium borates as fungicidal wood preservatives with good penetration depth.
According to EP-A 0 498 162, these polymeric quaternary ammonium borates also have an insecticidal action. However, relatively large amounts of the active ingredient are required in order to achieve adequate protection of the wood against insects. In addition, boron salts wash out slowly, so that the fungicidal and the insecticidal action are lost if the wood impregnated therewith is exposed to the weather.
A reduction in the active concentration and an improvement in the long-term effect of the polymeric quaternary ammonium borates is achieved if these are combined with copper salt and alkanolamine, as is known from EP-A 0 556 454. Unfortunately, toxic copper compounds are used in these agents. It is therefore an object of the invention to provide heavy metal-free, solvent-free preventive wood preservatives with good fungicidal activity, which have good long-term stability even when weathered.
Die Lösung der Aufgabe erfolgt durch Holzschutzmittel gemäß der Ansprüche 1-5.The problem is solved by wood preservatives according to claims 1-5.
It has been found that combinations of polymeric quaternary ammonium borates and (4-ethoxyphenyl) - (3- (4-fluoro-3-phenoxy-phenyl) propyl- (dimethyl) silane with water form clear solutions that these solutions and those in them dissolved active ingredients penetrate deeply into wood, do not wash out after drying and have a good long-term insecticidal and fungicidal action even when the amount is small.
Polymere quartare Ammoniumborate sind die aus EP-A 0 355 316 bekannten Umsetzungsprodukte von Aminen mir Ethylen- oder Propylenoxid und Borverbindungen, insbesondere solche, die erhalten werden durch gleich¬ zeitige Umsetzung von Aminen der allgemeinen Formeln I oder IIPolymeric quaternary ammonium borates are the reaction products of amines with ethylene oxide or propylene oxide and boron compounds known from EP-A 0 355 316, in particular those which are obtained by simultaneous reaction of amines of the general formulas I or II

(4-Ethoxyphenyl)-(4-ethoxyphenyl) -
A 61 229883 as an insecticidal compound and is available under the trade name Silafluofen. However, the compound is insoluble in water and does not penetrate well in wood, even if it is applied to wood in the form of a solution in an organic solvent.
The combination of the two components results in a multiple synergistic effect: the combination becomes water-soluble. It penetrates deeply into the wood treated with it and the washout behavior of polymeric quaternary ammonium borate is significantly reduced.
The active ingredient combination according to the invention can contain further compatible active ingredients. In particular, the addition of a product of 25-75 parts by weight of fatty amine ethoxylate and 75-25 parts by weight is recommended unsaturated fatty acid. The addition of this product, known from an earlier application by the applicant (P 195 15 211.5), results in a further improvement in the depth of penetration into the wood and permits a further reduction in the amounts of active substance.
